The Inertia Group presented a workshop called "Managing Your Networks - In Person and Online" at Rasmussen College in Tinley Park. The event was organized by the Mokena Chamber of Commerce. Members learned how to use social networks to develop in person meetings and build rapport with prospects. They also learned how to build their online communities from people they meet at networking functions.

At the Fogelson Theatre located on the campus of Moraine Valley Community College, Maribeth Hearn of The Inertia Group, Inc. and Don Jones of DRZ Enterprises are the speakers for the “Marketing Vs. Sales” symposium. The audience will be taken through an entertaining debate on who gets credit for converting prospects to buyers. During the 2 hour session, the topics covered will be Networking, Prospecting, Qualifying, Closing, and Follow Up. Attendees will learn the difference between Marketing and Advertising as well as the Relationship between Marketing and Sales. Each speaker has a unique systematic approach for Sales and Marketing. In the fall a Bootcamp of various ½ day seminars that expound on the Networking, Prospecting, and Leadership will be held at the College starting September 9th. E-mail for more information.

A two-hour course called “Small Business Marketing” was held. Students learned the difference between marketing and advertising. The marketing mix was covered in detail with special attention given to target markets. They also participated in developing their own pitch to use when introducing themselves at networking events. Topics covered included SWOT analysis, budgeting, research and promotion.

A two-hour course called “Social Networking” was held to teach students about the history and use of various social networks. Topics covered included Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The course also covered blogging with WordPress and Blogger as well as YouTube as it relates to creating content. The hands-on course included coverage of the terms unique to the networks. Students who own businesses and those seeking employment attended.

The Inertia Group, Inc. was a featured exhibitor at the SSHBA 500 Club Associate Showcase located at the Harrah’s Casino in Joliet. The booth displayed the latest in website design, graphic design, virtual tours, blogs, Facebook Pages and E-mail Campaigns. Attendees were educated about the latest trends in Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing.

The Southland Chamber holds a Business to Business Expo each year. This year’s Expo was held at the Tinley Park Convention Center and included some training and trending topics during the afternoon sessions. Maribeth Hearn of The Inertia Group, Inc. served on a SME panel with 2 other local businesses to provide insight about using E-Mail Campaigns to Grow Business. The session had the highest attendance of all the sessions held that day. The panel discussed Social Media, E-Mail Campaigns and Branding. Hearn provided insight detailing the benefits of using E-mail. She also educated attendees about the Spam laws and how to be compliant when sending e-mails. The best practices of e-mail were covered and attendees were extended a FREE trial offer so that they could start growing their business right away.

A two-hour course called “Make Your Website Work for You” was held to teach students about the essentials that need to be on a website, the basics of how search engines work, how to select a domain name, and how to measure traffic to their site. Students learned how to use the website as a marketing tool for their businesses.
